Your next potential love interest may show you their "best face" online, but the fact remains that person is still a stranger.

From behind a PC screen, a dishonest dater can transform himself into somebody else entirely, "adjusting" anything from his appearance to his family history, professional credentials and any unsavory events of his past.

You could try to discern the dater's background yourself, becoming your own online sleuth. But snooping around on Facebook and LinkedIn will only get you so far. Or, you might turn to a service that offers a "thorough background check" on your potential date or love interest. But do they have the credentials and professional experience to make good on that promise?
A licensed private investigator is the best qualified individual to offer the tools and know-how to positively identify someone you've met online and conduct a background check that's reliable, including your potential love interest's past and present circumstances.

And it's not just about who's conducting the search. It's also about how the search is conducted.

The licensed professionals at Dating Backgrounds have access to proprietary databases, from which they can match an address with a name. Doing so makes it possible to confirm dates of birth and social security numbers, which are then used to dig into the person's past, including court records.

Some background search firms don't believe court records are necessary elements of a background search. But aren't your safety and the safety of your loved ones worth finding the right search firm with the right experience and credentials?

Our staff has in-depth experience with the U.S. Court system and can navigate all levels, including Circuit Courts, Civil Courts, County Courts, Federal and Appellate courts

Through a comprehensive search, a licensed private investigator can uncover misdemeanors, felony convictions, protective orders, divorces, money judgments, bankruptcies...the list can go on and on. Each piece of information is like a puzzle piece that, taken together, sheds critical light on a person's character.

The need for a comprehensive search becomes especially important when you consider the different types of people who have joined the online dating pool. Seniors and Baby Boomers now comprise the fastest-growing demographic of online daters, with the 55+ crowd accounting for approximately 17% of traffic to online dating sites, according to a recent Nielsen report.
Collectively, the online daters met by Seniors and Boomers possess a great deal of history – that needs to be checked – as well as the possibility for lots of "negative baggage."

Many dating sites attempt to match users based on personal information fed through an algorithm, and some sites cater to specific audiences (think JDate for Jewish daters or ChristianMingle for Christian singles).

The online dating playground is open to everyone today, regardless of age, gender, race, even sexual orientation. But there is inherent risk that comes with this increased visibility. For instance, there have been reports of homophobic individuals posing as gay men on LGBT dating sites with the intent to harm unsuspecting gay daters. In such cases, an accurate background check could prevent a negative experience or, worse yet, personal harm.

Finding love online today is a bit of a battlefield, regardless of who you are. But make no mistake, we're not about scaring people or dissuading them from online dating! We're all about safety!

The reality is that if you're actively dating online, you shouldn't get too deep into a virtual or actual relationship without an accurate background search, conducted by a qualified professional.

With proper licensing, professionalism and long-term experience, the private investigators at Dating Backgrounds can provide you with more than just peace of mind. They can help to ensure your safety as you travel through cyberspace to find that special someone.
